Los Angeles Dodgers player Alex Call and Baltimore Orioles manager Craig Albernaz’s wife each ripped networks for the commercials they are running during the MLB playoffs, raising concerns about young viewers.

“Hey @tntsports how about we not advertise HBO Max horror movies at 8:20 during the ALCS while my kids are watching?! What are we doing?!” Genevieve Albernaz wrote on X during Game 2 of the American League Championship Series on Tuesday.

Based on other similar comments shared on X during the game, she may have been referring to the truly bizarre, and definitely terrifying for kids under the age of 10 (like her three children, according to The Big Lead) trailer for the Jessica Chastain movie Other Mommy.

“I never thought I’d long for more gambling ads, but this rotation of explicit ED commercials mixed with ‘Other Mommy’ trailers for the @MLB playoffs has me yelling ‘close your eyes!’ to my kids more times than I can count,” read that comment.

A current MLB player expressed concern about his children watching the games

Also on Tuesday, current Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Alex Call (who isn’t currently on the team’s playoff roster) wrote on X, “Can we please get the soft p— ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-naked women could come on screen anytime?? This is America’s Pastime. Parents shouldn’t have to worry about this.”

Call, of course, is referring to the Sydney Sweeney Novig commercials. Though he could also be referring to the Megan Fox Ro Sparks ads, in which she writhes and rolls around in a skin-tight red bodysuit.

“Hey @MLB – wanna get more kids watching baseball? Maybe start with the commercials,” read another, similar comment on X. “Watching the playoffs tonight with my kids and here’s the rundown: – Megan Fox selling ED pills in a red bodysuit – The scariest movie trailer you’ve ever seen – Sydney Sweeney in zero clothes promoting betting on sports.”

They all have a very valid point. It’s bad enough that Major League Baseball airs several of the playoff games well past the bedtimes of most young children, when they do get the chance to watch them they are inundated with sports betting, pharmaceutical ads, and scary movie trailers. Not exactly the best way to build the fanbase of the future. Then again, MLB hasn’t seemed interested in doing that for years.
