Now that they’ve wrapped their never-ending tentacles around American football, Swifties have seemingly locked their sights on their next athletic target, albeit this time in actual football: Liverpool FC star winger Mohamed Salah.

After Salah casually revealed in an interview (back in 2021!) that he listens to Taylor Swift because his young daughters force him to, Taylor Swift’s loyal legion of fans took notice, and are now trying to swing the “Premier League Player of the Month” vote in his favor.

“My girls, too, make me listen to English music. I listen to Taylor Swift, for example,” Salah said.

At the time of this writing, there are dozens if not hundreds of tweets about Salah being a Taylor Swift fan that have sprung up in the last few days.

Taylor Swift’s involvement with the NFL began last month when she made an appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs’ home matchup against the Chicago Bears to support tight end Travis Kelce, whom she is reportedly dating.

Things reached a fever pitch over the weekend, though, as Swift — along with the likes of Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Blake Lively, and more — showed up at MetLife Stadium to take in the Sunday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, which racked up 27 million viewers.

Swift injecting herself into the NFL world has created tons of headlines and controversies, such as the NFL having to release a statement in response to backlash they received for making their social media profiles Swift-focused following Sunday night’s Chiefs game. Even Travis Kelce, whom Swift is rumored to be dating, said the NFL’s coverage has gone overboard.

There was also a report that revealed that the league asked its four broadcasting partners– CBS, Fox, ESPN, and NBC — to run commercials for Swift’s upcoming The Eras Tour concert film for free.
