The Travis Kelce x Taylor Swift relationship has been the biggest story in the NFL since Aaron Rodgers’ injury and a massive distraction during NFL broadcasts since Taylor first showed up in Kansas City to watch the Chiefs embarrass the Bears.

It is hard to recall a time the NFL has gone all-in with coverage like this. Taylor Swift was featured 17 times on TV during the Chiefs-Jets Sunday Night Football matchup. Interestingly, however, a conspiracy theory has cropped up calling into question Taylor’s motives for being at that game.

The overexposure is REAL for a lot of NFL fans, and for members of the media who feel compelled to cover everything Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift do because it’s the biggest story in sports right now. And on the latest episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce (Presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment), the Kelce brothers’ podcast, they discuss the overexposure.

Travis Kelce On The NFL’s Taylor Swift Coverage: ‘They’re Overdoing It’

Jason Kelce asked his brother Travis how he he feels about celebrities being featured during games, Travis said he believes the NFL is “overdoing it a bit” with his situation.

Jason Kelce: “Take away your feelings for Taylor [Swift]… What is your honest opinion on how the NFL is treating celebrities at games?”

Travis Kelce: “I think it’s fun when they show who all is at the game. I think it brings a little more to the atmosphere, it brings a little more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, I think – they’re overdoing it a little bit. Especially my situation. I think they’re just trying to have fun with it…”

Jason Kelce: “I just think the NFL is just not used to celebrities coming to the games. Like basketball has it figured out. They’re all court side sitting there, they show them once or twice and they get back to the game. The NFL is like, ‘Look at all these A-list celebrities at the game! Keep showing ‘em, show ‘em!’ Dude, listen. You show them once, let them know they’re there. Maybe after a touchdown, you get a little clip. But you can’t be overboard with it. People are there to watch the game, right?”

Travis Kelce: “Yeah, they’re not there to be thrown on TV. You never know, you get caught throwing a big old cheeseburger in and you look like an idiot. There’s certain things, you just don’t want to be on TV at all times.”

More of the Kelce brother’s discussion can be seen in their latest episode which just premiered on YouTube:

After just 2 weeks, the NFL would be hard-pressed to find diehard fans who would argue there hasn’t been overexposure. That said, Taylor’s Eras Tour picks up again soon and she’ll no longer be a regular fixture at games so the window to feature her on TV is closing for the NFL…

What did Travis say to Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines?

Travis Kelce also spoke about meeting with Aaron Rodgers on the sidelines before the Chiefs-Jets game. He told his brother Jason what the two spoke about.

Travis Kelce: “I just wanted to go up to him and tell him how excited everybody was and how bummed out we were that he got banged up and needed to get surgery. Watching ‘Hard Knocks,’ it was electric to see what Aaron Rodgers was going to do with that team. Not to say that they’re not gonna be great because he’s not there, but I think that having Aaron there was going to be that much more entertaining for someone who is a fan of the game like I am. You just hate to see the great ones go down with injury. I just went up to him and told him we’re all hurting for him and hopefully he gets healthy quick…”

.”..I think he’s fully on board with getting back, if they can find a way to make the playoffs, I’m pretty sure he’s fully on board with getting back by then. I didn’t talk to him about that, don’t hit me with that. I think I know nothing.”

That sounds a whole lot nicer than Aaron Rodgers making jokes about Travis on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. Rodgers referred to Travis as ‘Mr Pfizer’ in a comment that got him called a ‘hypocrite’.
