Mookie Betts got a kick out of a sign made by a baseball fan at a recent Dodgers game. The homemade sign claimed that the outfielder likes to eat his corn in an interesting way.

Betts responded to the hilarious jab in a postgame interview, saying it definitely caught his attention. His response is now going viral on social media.

The Dodgers played division rival San Diego on Sunday, capping a three-game series. The two foes has split the two previous contests, leaving Sunday’s finale as the rubber match.

That final game would provide fireworks as the to NL West rivals battled into extra innings.

After taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Padres would be held off the scoreboard the rest of the way. Los Angeles battled back to tie the game in the top of the ninth frame on a Mookie Betts home run before winning it in the 10th.

After the game, the All-Star was interviewed for his late game heroics.

While the game tying homer was an obvious focal point, the conversation took a bit of a turn. Betts shouted out a fan’s sign in the crowd that specifically called the outfielder out.

“It’s the best sign I’ve ever seen,” said Betts. “I don’t know if I can really say it on air, but it was a great sign.”

After being asked to paraphrase, Betts just went all in.

“It just said, ‘Mookie Betts eats corn the long way.’ I thought that was very creative.”

Many online posted their responses to the Mookie’s reply.

One person wrote, “Good sign, and a better sport. Good for Mookie.”

Someone else said, “I love that Mookie can get a laugh out of it.”

Well done to the sign maker.
