Earlier this month, the Rams earned the right to lift the Lombardi Trophy after topping the Bengals in the Super Bowl, and it didn’t take long for sportsbooks to roll out a new set of odds for bettors looking to place a fairly premature wager in the hopes of guessing which team will prevail in The Big Game next year.

Despite the issues the Chiefs encounter during this year’s postseason, Kansas City opened as the favorites to win Super Bowl LVII at around +700, with the Bills debuting in a close second at close to +800 and a mix of other teams including the Packers, 49ers, and this year’s champions all in the mix in the low thousands.

The New York Jets, on the other hand, debuted firmly out of the mix and remain close to the bottom for reasons that should be pretty obvious if you’ve paid any attention to the New York Jets over the past decade or so.

Despite being the darkest of dark horses at +20000, it would appear plenty of people have been willing to give them more than a fighting chance, as Caesars released a list of the five teams who’ve garnered the most futures bets since giving gamblers a chance to get in on the Super Bowl LVII action that features the Jets sitting in the fourth slot between the Rams and the Chiefs.

The list is based on the number of total bets that have been placed as opposed to the amount of money that’s been wagered on each squad, and when you consider the return you’ll get if they pull off the improbable, it’s not hard to figure out why so many people are throwing their money down on the Jets despite all signs that suggest anyone who decides to do so is simply throwing it away.

As Leicester City proved in 2016, anything is possible, but—and I cannot stress this enough—we’re talking about the New York Jets. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m pretty sure Caesars will be more than happy to keep raking in those wagers.
