Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris was feeling the effects of a hearty holiday meal while lining up against the Bengals in his most recent outing. The ball carrier said he overindulged on Thanksgiving Day, and it came back to bite on Sunday.

He was forced to the sidelines early on in the contest as he didn’t quite feel himself. Harris later blamed a teammate Pat Freiermuth’s girlfriend for his slow start in Cincinnati.

While he did make the start against the Bengals, Harris admitted that he had to take a few moments on the bench shortly after the matchup began. He was asked about his removal from the action during a postgame interview.

“It was Thanksgiving. Pat’s girlfriend, Jill, she made this fire a– little banana thing, and I had too much,” he said of his holiday celebration. “I didn’t know it affected me until that first drive. So, I blame her.”

After eating some oranges, Najee Harris says he felt better. He was able to get back into the lineup and have a productive day. The tailback carried the ball 16 times for 75 yards and a score in the Steelers’ 44-38 win over the Bengals.

Pat Freiermuth responded to his teammate’s comments after the fact. He shouted out his girlfriend’s cooking in a post on X.

Harris and Freiermuth capped their holiday weekend off with a huge win against a divisional opponent. Each found the endzone in that victory. Harris might avoid Freiermuth’s invite for a celebration dinner in hopes of avoiding another slow start next week!
