NASCAR Fans Will Have To Pay Absurd Price For Six-Pack Of Beer At Chicago Street Race

Everyone knows you have to pay a premium if you want to help yourself to a beer (or three) while attending a sporting event, but that doesn’t necessarily make the inflated prices you’re confronted with once you enter the venue easier to swallow.

As an American, it’s very hard not to be jealous of the incredibly reasonable price Borussia Dortmund charges soccer fans who want to get their drink on at a match, especially when you consider a single beer would’ve set you back $17 if you attended the most recent College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

If you’ve ever had the chance to witness a NASCAR race in person, you’re probably very aware many racing enthusiasts have a tendency to delete beers at an impressive pace at gatherings where Busch Light typically flows like the waters of Niagara Falls.

Part of the reason that’s the case is that many tracks allow spectators to arrive with their own stash of beers in tow. Unfortunately, that is not the case with the Grant Park 220, the race that NASCAR will be holding on the streets of Chicago for the first time on July 2nd.

While fans will have the chance to buy beer during the event, a Twitter user who got a preview of what’s in store posted a fairly sobering picture of the prices vendors will be charging once it kicks off.

A single can of Busch Light or Michelob Ultra will cost you $10.50 (which is kind of par for the course), and even though you also have the option to purchase a six-pack, there’s no real benefit to buying in bulk aside from having to avoid getting back in line, as half-a-dozen beers will set you back a grand total of  $63.

At the end of the day, the prices are what they are because the people who set them know attendees are still going to buy them, but that won’t do much to appease people who might be hoping for a tiny discount if they opt to stock up.
