Nate Diaz lost to Mike Perry during Netflix’s Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano MMA card at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California on Saturday night, and the result has people asking a much bigger question than who won the fight: is Nate Diaz okay?

Nate Diaz and Mike Perry met in the co-main event of MVP MMA 1 on Saturday night on Netflix, Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions’ first-ever MMA event and the streaming giant’s first foray into the sport.

Perry dominated the fight from the get-go, leading to Diaz being covered in blood and his corner throwing in the towel at the end of round two, ending the bout.

MMA fans are concerned about Nate Diaz and the damage his brain has taken over the years after his loss to Mike Perry

After the fight, one of the main talking points was the damage Diaz’s brain has taken over the years and how that appears to be affecting him, both now and in the long term.

“I’ve had friends in the industry insist I am wrong, but Nate Diaz is slurring his speech badly. It is very worrying. No, he hasn’t always spoke like this – f— off with that. He should not be allowed [to] fight again,” one viral tweet said.

“Nate, I love you bro. But I literally can’t watch you fight no more. Watching that last night was so brutal for me to see. Ur already one of the biggest legends to have never won a belt. Just retire and promote your brothers gym,” a second MMA fan added.

There has also been unverified speculation among MMA circles on social media that part of the reason the fight was stopped was because Diaz soiled himself during the match, which you can research for yourself on X/Twitter.

Diaz, 39, turned professional in 2004 and built one of the most beloved careers in MMA history, most notably via his outspoken personality and his two fights with Conor McGregor — a submission win in 2016 and a decision loss in the rematch — which became two of the most-watched bouts in the promotion’s history.

He also holds wins over notable fighters including Donald Cerrone, Michael Johnson, and Josh Thomson. Diaz officially parted ways with the UFC in 2023 and has since fought on the boxing and independent MMA circuit.
