Jets OC Nathaniel Hackett Makes Embarrassing Admission, Says Jets ‘Underestimated’ Perennial DPOY Candidate Micah Parsons

Nathaniel Hackett got hired by the New York Jets for one reason and one reason alone: to land Aaron Rodgers.

Now that Rodgers is gone (for the season), though, Jets fans are beginning to take an Office Space approach to the former Broncos head coach and are now wondering “What is it, exactly, that he does here?”

It certainly isn’t getting his offense prepared to take on perhaps the best defensive player in the sport, that’s for sure.

According to the 43-year-old Hackett, the Jets apparently “underestimated the speed” of Parsons, who is already being talked about as one of the great all-time defensive players despite still being just 24 years old.

“We even underestimated his speed on the quick game. He is spectacular, and somebody you have to look back and say, ‘Can you even do that?’ We looked back at the tape, corrected it and saw how we can help ourselves out,” Hackett told reporters this week in the lead-up to the Jets’ Week 3 matchup against the New England Patriots.

In the game against the Jets, Parsons had four tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble as he and the rest of the Cowboys defense held the Jets to just 10 points.

It’s certainly a shocking admission from Hackett, who is certainly testing the patience of Jets fans after just two games at the helm.

Even Jets’ players seem to be frustrated with him, as running back Breece Hall vaguely called out the coaching staff for only giving him four carries in the 30-10 loss. to Dallas.

Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time since losing Rodgers this Sunday, Hackett, Zach Wilson, and virtually everyone else involved with the Jets are likely desperate for a win, as this seems like a situation that could go ugly fast if they don’t keep their heads afloat.
