For those hoping to make a trip to the College Football Playoff championship game between Washington and Michigan, good news is on the way!

Ticket prices for that national title matchup have quickly dropped now that the teams have been set.

The Huskies and Wolverines came out victorious in the opening round of the CFP with each solidifying its spot in the season’s final contest. Washington took down Texas in the Sugar Bowl while Michigan outlasted Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

Both games came down to the last play.

That result might not be ideal for sellers, however.

The Longhorns and Crimson Tide each boast close proximity to Houston, as well as fanbases willing to make the short trip to NRG Stadium.

Wolverine and Husky fans, however, reside on opposite sides of the country. After paying boatloads to take in the semifinal round, they might not be eager to pay top dollar a second straight week.

With that in mind, the box office has already taken an immediate hit.

GameTime ticketing site revealed a near-$1,500 drop in ticket prices for the national title game after both Texas and Alabama were eliminated from contention.

Reports claimed that prior to the Longhorns’ loss on Monday night, the lowest get-in prices sat at more than $3,500 with fees included.

For those who purchased early in anticipation of their team winning the first game, those price drops could be PAINFUL!

Noah Pransky of NBC posted that there’s been a near-50% drop on secondary markets like TicketMaster and StubHub.

That has to be a tough pill to swallow immediately after watching your favorite team suffer a crushing last second defeat.

For Michigan and Washington fans, though, the patience might pay off! As ticket prices continue to go down, the ability to make the cross-country trip goes up.

And the excitement for the matchup should be high on both sides.

Neither school has won a national championship since the 1990s, though the Wolverines have made a pair of previous CFP appearances.

It will be interesting to track ticket prices throughout the week as fans make their national title game plans in the coming days.
