Flopping has become a bit of an issue within the NBA, as fans have been asking for a some kind of rule change for several years now.

It’s always a shame when a great game is in the heat of the moment just for a wild foul call slows the game down, or potentially changes the outcome.

Well, from the sounds of it, the league could be on the verge of making major changes to address the problem.

According to Shams Charania, the NBA Board of Governors are going to vote on two big rule changes, one of them addressing the flopping issue plaguing the league.

If passed, a flopping call will lead to an immediate technical foul free-throw. Shams Charania shares more details, along with a rule change to reward teams for winning coaching challenges.

Why this wasn’t the original rule to begin with? I don’t know. But it this could potentially remove flopping from the game entirely, which would be great for the sport.

Now, it’s important to note that nothing is set in stone just yet. The NBA Board of Governors must first vote on this potential rule change. So, there is a chance it doesn’t pass and things stay the same as they are.

Despite that, basketball fans are truly inspired and hope the vote passes.

I’m all for anything that improves the game too.

The real question is, will the referees enforce the ruling correctly?

People are loving the second potential rule change as well. Why not reward coaches for winning a challenge?

James Harden has been called out a lot in the mentions.

This question needs an answer.

If the new flopping rule is passed then it will take into effect in the 2023-24 season. Which is great considering it’ll be put into effect immediately.

Let’s just hope the board passes this vote through. Look for more updates, as Charania or Adrian Wojnarowski will be all over it.
