It didn’t take long for the hot takes to start flying on Victor Wembanyama.

Fans needed to see just one game from Wembanyama in the NBA’s Summer League to already start saying he’s going to be a bust.

Then in his second game, he quickly made it clear that assertion was ridiculous.

However, it seems there is one former NBA role player that still isn’t convinced about how good Wembanyama is going to be after he posted 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks in his second game.

Yesterday, former Boston Celtics big man Glen “Big Baby” Davis told The Washington Post’s Ben Golliver that he doesn’t think Wembanyama would have been able to handle the pain of playing against him.

It’s a bold claim from a guy who started just 121 games over the course of his NBA career.

There were plenty of people that handled playing against Glen Davis while he was still in the league. He averaged just 8 points per game while he was in the league.

There have been plenty of people sharing their doubts on what Victor Wembanyama will be able to accomplish with his frame right now.

However, we’ve seen plenty of players come into the league that are very thin who go on to have great careers. The takes on Wembanyama are also coming as people are praising the equally thin Chet Holmgren for his performance in the Summer League.

There will likely be some growing pains for Wembanyama early in his career as he adapts to the NBA game and learns how to utilize his frame.

However, there is also plenty of reason to believe that Wembanyama is going to be a really good player in the NBA and that he’d have been absolutely fine matching up with Glen Davis.
