NC State is headed to the Final Four, and that’s reason to celebrate! One university professor realized the magnitude of the athletic accomplishment, and he adjusted his class schedule appropriately.

Matthew Bryant, an associate professor in the school’s mechanical and aerospace engineering program, reached out to his students to inform them of a change on an upcoming test. An exam that was slated to be taken on Monday, the day after the Wolfpack’s Elite Eight win over Duke, has now been moved to Wednesday.

The adjustment came after a student reached out via email to plead his case for an extension.

“Yo Dr. Bryant, I’m lit, and I hope you are, too. A Final Four appearance is a lot to celebrate. How about we move this test to Tuesday or Wednesday??”

Not long after, Bryant sent his response.

“This is possibly my favorite email of the year. You’ve convinced me!”

Major W for Dr. Bryant.

Not only did NC State continue its improbable run to the Final Four (after barely making the NCAA Tournament altogether), but they booked a Final Four ticket by beating one of their top rivals.

The team has now won nine straight games after having gone just 17-14 in the regular season, and they’ve taken down top competition in the process. On that list of fallen foes are Duke (2x), UNC, UVA, Texas Tech, and Marquette.

Star forward DJ Burns, who scored a team-high 29 points in Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup, was certainly enjoying the moment – and mocking Duke in the process. Others took the in scenes, too, as Wolfpack players and coaches cut down the nets for the first time in four decades.

It was a win worth celebrating – and now at least one classroom full of NC State students will be able to do so!
