Today has been an awful day for LSU athletics. They fired their head basketball coach earlier in the day after receiving a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA stemming from an investigation that started in 2017.

As it turns out, they aren’t the only LSU athletic program dealing with an NCAA investigation. The football program is also dealing with a violation that was a big headline a couple of years ago.

After winning the National championship in a dominant win over Clemson, LSU’s on-field celebration received a lot of attention when Odell Beckham Jr was spotted handing cash to some of the team’s players. As expected, the NCAA wasn’t happy about it.

The investigation reportedly also found that Odell gave more money to LSU players at a club afterwards.

The investigation will likely have no impact on Odell unless the NCAA decides they can take awards from him for a violation committed after the end of his time as a college athlete.

We don’t know yet what the results of this will be for LSU, but this is certainly not a position you want to be in after a disappointing season. That is especially true when you just spent a ton of money on a new coach who will be expected to succeed quickly.

At least the Rams didn’t have to worry about this type of thing when Odell just helped them win a title.
