Neal Shipley wrapped up an awesome weekend at Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, landing a spot in Butler Cabin by being the only amateur to make the cut at The Masters.

The Low Am got the chance to sit alongside winner Scottie Scheffler, last year’s champ Jon Rahm, and Jim Nantz for a post-round interview on Sunday.

The Ohio State grad student lived out a dream scenario in Augusta.

He posted a score of -1 in his opening round, getting off to a hot start before making the cut at +3 when Friday came to a close. While he faded a bit down the stretch, entering at +11 on Sunday morning, he got maybe his biggest surprise in his final round.

Neal Shipley was paired with Tiger Woods, and he beat him!

Shooting one-over-par on his last day, he easily outdueled his childhood idol, who ended his round at +5 on Sunday.

Shipley was able to celebrate that victory in Butler Cabin, where he spoke with Nantz about his experience on the course. That appearance quickly went viral, but for an unexpected reason.

The golfer’s eyes were shifty, and he kept looking at something off to the side of the set.

Social media then did its thing.

“Me, when my buddy mentions the golf trip I haven’t told my wife about yet in front of her…”

“What was he looking at??”

The side eye that Neal Shipley keeps giving is killing me.”

Neal Shipley looks like he’s hiding a big secret.”

“Blink twice if you need help!”

Jokes aside, he was likely just looking at someone off-set giving cues. That final interview has a habit of producing awkward interactions.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the only awkward moment of Neal Shipley’s day.

He was also asked about an interaction with Tiger Woods that supposedly occurred during his Sunday round. A reporter asked the youngster about a note passed along from Woods to Shipley as the pair walked the fairway.

He immediately shut the insinuation down.

“I saw on one fairway, [Tiger] wrote something and handed you a note,” the reporter said. “What was that about?”

“No, he didn’t. That didn’t happen,” Shipley responded before the interview abruptly ended.

Though he saw a few bizarre exchanges after his final round, it won’t take away from all that was accomplished on the course.
