Aerial Time-Lapse Video Of Nebraska Football Replacing Field With New Turf Is Truly Mesmerizing

Nebraska football has not been above .500 since 2014, but the Cornhuskers are hopeful that this is the year that streak changes. And when they do take the field for their first home game on September 3rd, they will do so on brand new turf.

Memorial Stadium began the process of replacing its surface with new turf on April 11th.

The field had not been replaced since 2013 and it was long overdue for an upgrade. Rather than installing new natural grass, Nebraska decided to once again roll out artificial turf.

Less than a month after the process began, it was completed on Monday morning and the team shared the first look at the fully finished product.

Although there will forever be a debate over grass vs. turf (I, for one, would rather the game be played on the real thing), the new field looks great. It’s clean, fresh and ready for the season.

In addition to the aerial look at Memorial Stadium, Nebraska shared a time-lapse of how the field went from grass to turf. It was a really unique look at what it takes to get it done.

After rolling up most of the grass, a thunderstorm rolled in and delayed the process. But the sun eventually came out and they got it done.

The most interesting part of the time-lapse comes after the turf had been put in. There are all kinds of intricate details, like the numbers and hashmarks, that have to be painted on afterward.

Will the new turf help Nebraska turn things around? Only time will tell.
