Being a sports fan means subjecting yourself to plenty of ups and downs, and while Patriots supporters were subjected to a lengthy stretch of disappointment prior to the new millennium, that all changed after the team transformed into a dynasty. Now, the folks at Apple TV have released the first trailer for a project chronicling that dominant run.

Fans of franchises in the Boston area have gotten very spoiled over the past couple of decades to the point where it’s hard to remember when most teams in the region weren’t perennial contenders for a championship. However, the late 1980s and 1990s were a pretty dark time for the folks in the area until the New England Patriots became the team to beat in the NFL.

When the Patriots stunned the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI, it broke a Boston-area championship drought that stretched back to 1986 (the year the Celtics had won their last title). In the years that followed, the Red Sox broke The Curse of the Bambino, the C’s won another title, and the Bruins secured a Stanley Cup—but none of them had anything on a New England team that won six of the nine Super Bowls they appeared in between 2002 and 2019.

Based on the current state of the Patriots, Tom Brady deserves the bulk of the credit for those wins, although it would obviously be foolish to underestimate the contributions of Bill Belichick despite the team’s struggles in the wake of the QB’s departure.

Both of those men will be featured heavily in The Dynasty: New England Patriots based on the trailer that was recently released for the ten-part documentary that will debut on Apple TV+ on February 16, 2024.

Robert Kraft also makes an appearance in the short teaser for a project that harnessed “thousands of hours of never-before-seen video footage and audio files from the Patriots organization’s archive.”

While those names were the only members of the dynasty to make an appearance in the trailer, it’s not a stretch to assume we’ll also be treated to some other interviews with pivotal role players like Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Stephen Gostkowski, and Vince Wilfork.

I’m sure Patriots fans would prefer to see the series drop sooner than later as they search for a much-needed palate cleanser to combat New England’s ongoing woes, but here’s to hoping it will be worth the wait.
