After Debuting Super Bowl Game Ball Sneakers, The Patriots Got Absolutely Roasted On Twitter

Nike

Yesterday, Nike debuted a special edition Air Force 1 shoe which paid homage to the New England Patriots’ epic comeback in Super Bowl 51. The shoes are made with leather from actual game balls that were used during the game.

The shoes are actually pretty awesome, and I won’t hate on the idea to immortalize the Patriots’ win with a special edition pair Air Force 1’s. I will, however, hate on whoever was so blind they didn’t see the connection between game ball shoes and the Patriots’ ‘deflated balls’ controversy. Someone at Nike and/or the New England Patriots organization should’ve seen this coming.

Alas, the shoes were debuted yesterday and while Pats fans like our very own Matt Keohan were in love with the shoes, the rest of Twitter decided to roast the shit out of the Pats and these shoes. First up, here are the shoes:

Pats fans had their own jokes:

They had to have known this criticism was coming, right? With hundreds (thousands?) of people involved in this process along the way, someone must’ve thought ‘man, this is going to lead to a literal shit ton of ‘deflated balls’ jokes’. My best guess is both Nike and the Pats saw this coming but they didn’t give a shit.
