New England Patriots Teammates Reportedly ‘Sick’ Of Quarterback Mac Jones

Are Mac Jones‘ days with the New England Patriots numbered?

If a new report is to be believed, it sure seems like that may be the case.

Greg Bedard of Boston Sports Journal claims that Jones’ Patriots teammates have grown “sick” of the young Alabama product.

“He was in his workout gear, which is ironic since he cleared the entire locker at the end of the season,” a team source told Bedard about Jones showing up to new head coach Jerod Mayo’s introductory press conference.

That same source claimed that Jones’ teammates were happy to see him benched for Bailey Zappe in the latter portion of the 2023 season.

“Everyone’s watched him play. They’ve watched him act like a prima donna,” the team source told Bedard “The team is sick of it, everyone’s sick of it.”

Patriots Teammates Have Previous Expressed Doubts About Mac Jones

The Patriots selected Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. The ex-Crimson Tide star impressed as a rookie, landing himself a Pro Bowl selection*.

But the years since have been a struggle. And Jones’ attitude has routinely come into question.

“One team source estimated that at least 80% of the Patriots’ locker room is out on Jones. Another said the ‘vast majority’ of players are done with him,” a Boston Herald report claimed earlier in the season.”Both said the lack of belief spreads to both sides of the ball, with a shared sense that Jones’ worst mistakes negate the best efforts of his teammates.”

That’s not a good sign for Jones!

It’s one thing for a quarterback to struggle early in his NFL career. It’s another entirely to struggle and lose the locker room.

That’s a quick way to find yourself out of the NFL entirely.

Only time will tell whether that’s the path Jones is headed down.
