NFL Insider To Colin Kaepernick ‘It’s Over, It’s Been Over’

One NFL insider is squashing Colin Kaepernick’s hopes of ever playing again.

Earlier this week, Kaepernick went viral when he sent a letter to the NY Jets asking them to put him on the practice squad after starting QB Aaron Rodgers went with an injury and backup QB Zach Wilson has been struggling on the field.

“I would be honored and extremely grateful for the opportunity to come in and lead the practice squad,” Kaepernick wrote. “I would do this with the sole mission of getting your defense ready each week.”

“This also would allow you guys as an organization to take a real look at where I’m at football wise, in game-like situations against an elite defense, while also not putting any competitive pressure on Zach [Wilson],” “I understand the importance of keeping him confident and focused as QB1, and I would only look to boost that confidence in any interactions that we may have.”

“Worse case scenario, you see what I have to offer and you’re not that impressed. Best case scenario, you realize you have a real weapon at your disposal in the event you ever need to use it. In either of these scenarios, I would be committed to getting your defense ready week in and week out, all season long, and I would wear that responsibility with a badge of honor.”

Unfortunately for Kaepernick, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio was blunt when he proclaimed that the Jets will be unmoved by his letter and that he will never play in the NFL again.

It’s over. It’s been over. And nothing that happened on Tuesday will keep it from being over.

Colin Kaepernick will never play in the NFL again. He’ll never be on a roster, or on a practice squad. It’s done. It’s been done.

The fact that Kaepernick turned the effort into a publicity stunt will not make the Jets any more inclined to give him a chance. The fact that so much time has passed since he last played (January 1, 2017) makes it even less likely that anyone will give him a chance.

It has simply been too long. It has been too long in part because the NFL successfully colluded against and blackballed Kaepernick.

Florio is probably right about Kaepernick’s about ever playing again after all these years away from the game.
