Ex-NFL Running Back Joe McKnight Was Reportedly Shot And Killed In A Road Rage Incident

Sad news coming out of Tarrytown, Louisiana as ex-NFL running back and return man Joe McKnight was shot and killed after a road rage dispute at round 3 pm Thursday.

Via NOLA:

A witness, who declined to give her name, said she was leaving a store in the area when she saw a man at the intersection yelling at another man, who was trying to apologize. The man who was yelling shot the other man more than once, she said.

She said the shooter shot the man, stood over him and said “I told you don’t you f— with me.” Then he fired again, she said.

Sheriff Newell Normand identified the suspected shooter as Ronald Gasser, 54. Normand said he does not believe McKnight was carrying a gun.

McKnight grew up in the area where he was killed and was a local superstar rising through the ranks through USC and into the NFL. He spent two years with the Jets back in 2010-2012 and in 2011 was the AFC’s return yards leader. He then played a season for the Kansas City Chiefs before being released and trying his hand in the Canadian Football League.

McKnight was only 28 years old.
