The NFL Players Association has released its “report card” for all 32 teams in the National Football League, and the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs have ranked last in a particularly concerning category.

According to the NFLPA, the Chiefs have the league’s worst training staff, with players reportedly feeling that they’re discouraged from reporting their injuries. Additionally, the surveyed players also raised concerns about head trainer Rick Burkholder.

“They feel discouraged from reporting their injuries,” says the NFLPA of their findings. “They do not feel they get the level of personal care that they should. They fear retribution for speaking up for better care.”

The NFLPA’s report card also states that the results show the Chiefs’ training and medical facilities are also outdated. The players also doubt the willingness of owner Clark Hunt to properly invest in the facility, either.

Players’ responses showed that treatment of players also falls well below other clubs across the NFL. For example, the Chiefs are one of 6 teams that still make certain players have roommates, and less than 50% of players feel they have enough room to be comfortable on flights.

Despite the apparent issues with their medical staff and facilities, however, it obviously hasn’t affected the Chiefs on the field, as they’ve played in five straight AFC Championship games and three of the last five Super Bowls, winning two of them.

Heading into the 2023 season, the defending champion Chiefs are currently the betting favorites to win next year’s Super Bowl title, with their odds sitting at around +650.
