Stephen Biebelhausen set a world record for fastest mile with a baby stroller.

Stephen Biebelhausen just set a new bar for dads nationwide. He proved that achieving fatherhood doesn’t have to come at the expense of physical fitness.

The runner completed a mile in 4 minutes and 17 seconds during a race in Ohio – while pushing his baby in a stroller. The incredible feat represents a new world record.

It’s motivation for every dad in America!

As a father of two youngsters, I’m fully aware of the time constraints that come with being a parent. Kids are an incredible gift, but personal goals and hobbies often get pushed aside. Your focus is now in watching them succeed. It’s par for the course.

Biebelhausen showed that athletic excellence doesn’t have to be one of those sacrifices. He might just inspire other dads to step up their game.

Stephen Biebelhausen set a new world record.

The runner took part in the Guardian Mile in Cleveland over the weekend. It’s a race across the iconic Hope Memorial Bridge, with runners of all ages and levels invited to compete.

With that said, the event put on by GOH Run does have an elite category. Biebelhausen would certainly be granted that upper echelon status.

Originally from Rochester, Michigan, he was a member of the Miami (OH) track team from 2013 to 2016. According to his athletic bio, he clocked a personal best 3:48.11 to place sixth in the 1500m at the Billy Hayes Invitational during his final year, a mark that landed him ninth on the school’s all-time list.

His World Athletics profile also shows a 2:25:31 marathon from Boston 2024. He’s no schlub.

Stephen Biebelhausen has long been removed from the college ranks. He’s since become a dad. He added 15 pounds or so to his workload over the weekend. It did little to slow him down.

The 4:17 time beat the previous world record by nine seconds. He was absolutely moving.

The average dad isn’t going to match the runner’s performance. He can, however, come close to matching his own personal bests even with a stroller in hand. Kids aren’t an excuse to put off exercise. They can simply present a new challenge.

Fatherhood doesn’t have to negatively impact fitness. Biebelhausen put that on display in Cleveland. I think I’ll use the inspiration for a few morning laps around the neighborhood this week.
