With just a couple of weeks left until the start of the NFL season, the San Francisco 49ers entered this week with a couple of major storylines that still needed to play out.
The first was their backup quarterback situation, which they settled yesterday when they named Sam Darnold the backup to Brock Purdy.
Now the other issue they need to settle is their contract situation with Nick Bosa.
Bosa is currently heading into the final year of his rookie contract and is looking to get an extension from the 49ers before the start of the year.
That extension has yet to come and Bosa has been holding out through the preseason.
Today, John Lynch spoke bout the situation and said he doesn’t like it and it isn’t something he has experienced as a GM.
John Lynch on Nick Bosa still not being signed:
"I don't like the situation. Since our tenure here we haven't had a holdout anywhere towards this magnitude. Not something I'm comfortable with. We're working really hard to change that…eager to bring this thing to a close."

Negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and Nick Bosa were definitely not expected to take this long.
The situation seemed pretty straightforward.
Bosa has proven that he is one of the best players in the NFL and is even coming off of winning Defensive Player of the Year.
With that, he has earned one of the biggest contracts in the league for a defensive player and potentially even the biggest contract ever for an edge rusher.
With the San Francisco 49ers not being able to afford to lose Bosa, it seemed safe to assume that they would give the star edge anything he wants.
Despite it seeming like this would be over quickly when Nick Bosa’s holdout began, the San Francisco 49ers are getting close to the start of the season without a deal done for one of their best players.
