Ohio State Fans Are Hammering Ryan Day And Calling For The Return Of Urban Meyer After Blowout Loss To Michigan

Ryan Day took over as the full-time head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes in 2019. Since that time, he’s gone 43-5 with two Big Ten championships, a Rose Bowl victory and an appearance in the College Football Playoff national championship game.

But that’s not good enough for Buckeyes fans.

That’s because Day has not yet won a national championship and, as of about 30 minutes ago, is now just 1-2 in his career against Michigan.

Ohio State had not lost to the rival Wolverines since 2011. But in 2021, Michigan and coach Jim Harbaugh got the monkey off their backs. The Wolverines pasted the Buckeyes, 42-27 in The Big House. The victory propelled Michigan to its first Big Ten title under Harbaugh and first CFP appearance.

The two teams met against this year with both of those on the line yet again. Each team came into the game at 11-0 and with dreams of a national championship.

Each also came in with a number of injury concerns. Ohio State appeared most ready to deal with those injuries early on. The Buckeyes jumped out to a 10-3 lead and looked the far more dangerous team. But from then on, it was all Michigan. The Wolverines pasted the Buckeyes the rest of the way, outscoring them 42-13 en route to a 45-23 victory.

It’s the first time since 1999-2000 that Michigan has won “The Game” in back-to-back years, and Ohio State fans are furious.

Ohio State Fans Call For Ryan Day To Be Fired And Urban Meyer To Return

Former Ohio State coach Earle Bruce, who served as a mentor for Urban Meyer, had a famous quote about the importance of beating Michigan as the Buckeyes’ head coach.

But Day has failed to do that now for two consecutive years. And worse, neither game was particularly close. Which led Ohio State fans to call for him to be fired on the spot.

In his place, they’d like to see the always controversial Meyer make a return.

Odds are, a Meyer return isn’t on the cards. But Luke Fickell is still just hanging out right down the road at Cincinatti…
