Ohio State is being ruthlessly trolled by rival fans for the timing of a recent walk-on tryout invite. The online announcement came less than 24 hours after Michigan’s national title win.

Wolverine fans, still riding the high of that championship victory, couldn’t help but make fun of the post.

As all college football programs do, tOSU will hold a walk-on tryout for the 2024 season. The Buckeyes advertised the upcoming window for that invite on Tuesday while listing requirements for those looking to land a spot on the team.

Unfortunately, with how things played out on the field this season, it gave Michigan supporters immediate ammunition.

The Wolverines not only won their first national title in two decades, but they took down their rival in the process. That season-ending victory kept Ohio State out of the Big Ten Championship and the College Football Playoff field.

The offseason hasn’t exactly been kind to the Buckeyes, who lost their starting quarterback to the transfer portal, and could see their top wideout, leading rusher, and a slew of defensive contributors enter the NFL Draft.

All of those things combined could paint the picture of a program in desperate need of help, with the walk-on announcement being their latest attempt to catch Michigan.

A number of social media followers responded after seeing the tryout post.

“Who is running the Ohio State PR program? One day after your archnemesis wins a natty isn’t a great time to advertise walk-on tryouts.”

“Posting this the day after a Wolverines title is self-own poetic justice.”

“Yikes, you couldn’t wait a day or two?!”

“It’s giving ‘The Replacements’ vibes.”

“Posting a day after Michigan wins the championship is WILD!”

“The perfect time for this post.”
