For some time now there have been rumors swirling about the potential sale of the Washington Commanders.
There have been big names thrown around as potential buyers, but there had yet to be any offers actually made.
That has changed today as a group that involves one really big name in the sports world has officially made a bid for the team and it’s a massive one.
According to Adam Schefter a group that includes NBA legend Magic Johnson has officially submitted a $6 million big for the Washington Commanders.
The Josh Harris/Mitchell Rales group, which nows includes Magic Johnson, officially has submitted a fully-financed bid that meets Dan Snyder’s $6 billion asking price, per source.

That group’s enormous bid for the Commanders wasn’t the only one that was made today. Schefter later reported that Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos submitted a $6 billion offer of his own.
Canadian billionaire Steve Apostolopoulos also has submitted a fully-funded $6 billon offer for the Commanders, sources tell me and @WindhorstESPN.
With two groups known to have submitted bids, there is a growing belief a purchase agreement could be in place by the NFL Draft.

All signs have recently pointed toward the sale of the Commanders getting close. The Snyders have already cleared out of the facility and now that there are a couple of bids that meet Dan Snyder’s reported asking price, it might not be much longer before the franchise has a new owner.
The $6 billion price tag would make the Washington Commanders by far the most expensive franchise purchase in the history of sports in the US.
The Denver Broncos currently hold that title after being sold for $4.65 billion last year.
After years of controversy, it looks like a change is finally coming for the Washington Commanders.
