First overall pick, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young, has disclosed his journey from financial struggles as a college athlete to becoming a multi-millionaire NFL star.

The young quarterback shared that during his freshman year at the University of Alabama, he turned to delivering food for DoorDash to make ends meet.

The contrast between Young’s past and present circumstances is nothing short of extraordinary, as he just signed a four-year $37.95 million rookie contract, which includes a $24.6 million signing bonus.

In a press conference that garnered attention, Young bravely opened up about his financial struggles as a college athlete.

Young revealed, “I would have a mask on and a hoodie, and I would only accept the ‘drop it at my door’ orders.” This strategy allowed him to continue his college studies and football career without the burden of being recognized as a future NFL prospect.

“I did that for a while. I did from when I got there and got my feet on the ground as far as when I first got there, I didn’t really… I was just, you know, learning the playbook and everything,” Young explained.

Bryce  Young also acknowledged that this was before the introduction of the NIL deals.

The NIL rules now enable college athletes to profit from their names, images, and reputations, providing them with opportunities to secure endorsement deals and benefit financially from their talents and popularity, which would’ve saved from Young having to work while at school and playing football.
