Pat McAfee made headlines during pregame coverage of the opening round of the College Football Playoff as College GameDay co-host Rece Davis read a segment about Alabama.
A week later, he referenced that situation at the national championship game between Washington and Michigan.
The initial comments came while Davis discussed an acronym used by Crimson Tide signal caller Jalen Milroe. “LANK,” or “Let A Naysayer Know,” has been a term echoed throughout the Alabama football facility walls as it looked to continue proving doubters wrong.
Milroe, in particular, voiced this mindset as he developed from inexperienced first-year starter to SEC champion.
Pat McAfee apparently wasn’t aware of “LANK’s” meaning, and he was caught off guard when Rece Davis explained on the air.

Pat McAfee references Rece Davis’s ‘LANK’ comments during national championship broadcast.
While covering the Michigan-Washington national title game, McAfee brought that viral situation back to light. This time, the College GameDay crew was talking about Huskies signal caller Michael Penix.
Penix donned a stealthy ski mask look in pregame warmups as he hoped to swipe a title win. Apparently, it’s a fit he wore all day long, completely zoned into the mission.

Penix is looking to pull an upset over the top-ranked Wolverines. It’s a spot he’s familiar with, being an underdog in four of the last five games.
The doubt hasn’t slowed the team’s success as Washington is perfect both straight up and against the spread as a dog under head coach Kalen DeBoer.
We’ll see if the Huskies can do it one more time in the season finale.
