Pat McAfee is one of the biggest personalities in all of sports media. The former NFL kicker has recently signed a huge deal with ESPN to air his popular podcast “The Pat McAfee Show” and a permanent gig on hit program College Gameday.

But, that may all be going away after Pat McAfee tweeted out one of the most unhinged, off-the-mark, and uncalled-for jokes you will ever see. Take a look.

In case the tweet gets deleted in the future, McAfee’s account replied to a picture of newly released alternate uniforms for the Michigan State football team with “I think Nassar was in on the design team actually”.

for context, in case you somehow don’t know, he’s referring to Larry Nassar. Nassar was a physician employed by Michigan State, USA Gymnastics, and local gymnastics club, Twistars (produced Olympic and World Champion Jordyn Wieber.) He was charged with sexually assaulting over 250 girls over decades, including Olympic heroes Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Wieber, and many others, and was sentenced to 40 to 175 years in prison in Michigan after he reached a plea deal with prosecutors. That sentence, among others including a federal sentence, ensures that he will spend the rest of his natural life behind bars.

Obviously, that’s just not a joke you can make. It seems pretty obvious that jokes about sexual assault should be off limits. But, apparently he doesn’t think so. He’s even doubled down by retweeting the joke. Shameless.

People are pretty ticked off about the joke.

No word from ESPN on any potential discipline for Pat McAfee as of Sunday evening.
