Patriots Legend Vince Wilfork Calls Out Mac Jones For ‘Throwing A Fit’ During Games

After making a surprising Pro Bowl appearance as a rookie a year ago, New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones hasn’t had as much success in year two.

New England selected Jones with the 15th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He then went 10-7 and threw for 3,801 yards as a rookie, finishing second in Rookie of the Year voting behind Cincinnati Bengals star Ja’Marr Chase.

Year two hasn’t been quite as kind to the Alabama product, however. The Patriots are 7-7 and sit on the outside looking in at an AFC playoff spot. Jones has missed three games due to injury and even when he has played, he’s not been at his best. The Florida native has thrown for just 2,310 yards, seven touchdowns and eight interceptions while adjusting to new offensive play caller Matt Patricia.

Beyond the on-field struggles, Jones has also reportedly caused trouble away from the field in the Patriots organization. He’s been seen cursing out coaches on the sidelines and reportedly hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye with legendary head coach Bill Belichick.

The issues have even caught the attention of former Patriots legends, including five-time Pro Bowler Vince Wilfork, who has seen enough.

Patriots Legend Vince Wilfork Tired Of Seeing Mac Jones ‘Throw A Fit’ During Games

Wilfork was a guest on NBC Sports Boston show “The Gameplan’ and discussed how the team can move forward after its hilarious loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wilfork pointed to a number of areas but honed in on Jones.

“I’m tired of that, honestly. I’m tired of it,” Wilfork said of Jones’s antics. “You’re the leader of this team. You’re a quarterback. So you can’t be frustrated every single week, every single play. I don’t care if you’re getting the play called in late or whatever it may be. At the end of the day, you have to show some poise because you do operate the ship. You’re the head of the ship when you’re out there.

“Control what you can control,” Wilfork added. “That’s all you can do. But I’m tired of seeing him throwing a fit.” – via Boston.com

His comments just go to show that winning cures all. No one in New England complained when Tom Brady was up and yelling at teammates and coaches. But when you’re a seven-time Super Bowl champion, you can do just about whatever you want.
