The New England Patriots‘ locker room appears to be divided between two quarterbacks, Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.

Veteran sportscaster Dan Patrick, asked a former Patriots player source to check whether there was a split between the two quarterbacks in the locker room. After four days, the player responded by saying, “There is a lot of support for Bailey Zappe.”

This follows reports that Patriots’ head coach, Bill Belichick, has been shopping Mac Jones during the 2023 offseason to other NFL teams, and remains “really pissed off” at Mac for the way he conducted himself last season.

Bailey Zappe was a rookie 4th round pick last season and played well in limited time. He started two games, winning both of them and scoring over 29 points in each game. In comparison, Mac Jones, in 14 starts, had zero such high scoring games.

Many people attribute Mac Jones’ decline from a solid rookie season in 2021 to a poor second season in 2022 to the bad coaching decisions made by Bill Belichick. However, Zappe, under similar circumstances, played well.

With Mac reportedly being shopped, it remains to be seen who will be the Patriots’ starter next season. Will Belichick go with the Zappe or stick with Jones? Only time will tell.

This news has caused a stir among Patriots fans, who are divided on which quarterback they would like to see as the team’s starter next season. Some fans believe that Zappe has the potential to become the Patriots’ next franchise quarterback, while others are still holding out hope for Jones.

The Patriots’ management has not commented on the situation, and it remains to be seen whether they will keep both quarterbacks on the roster or trade one of them. One thing is for sure: the Patriots’ 2023 season is shaping up to be a wild one for fans of the team.
