NFL super agent Drew Rosenhaus recently went viral for his actions away from the board room.

Rosenhaus shared a video from a fishing trip with Tyreek Hill and Josh Jorgensen of BlacktipH where Drew jumps in teh water and swims with a large dusky shark. Some are saying he ‘wrestled’ the shark because he briefly held onto the shark’s tail.

The video made the rounds last week:

The same video is also available on Instagram.

Tyreek Hill also shared footage of him battling the shark and a picture of a nice Amberjack he caught:

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, released a statement to TMZ and put Drew Rosenhaus on blast for his viral video with the shark.

PETA described Drew Rosenhaus as a “wannabe macho man” and said “Spending so much time around top athletes must have Drew Rosenhaus feeling like he has something to prove.”

The statement to TMZ went on to say “Aquatic animals already suffer at the hands of anglers who impale them, yank them out of the water, and gut them or leave them to suffocate, so they don’t need some wannabe macho man yanking on their tails for a few Twitter ‘likes.'”

As a born and raised Floridian, I have to think that PETA would be appalled by what a typical offshore fishing trip looks like. Jumping in the water and humanely touching a shark’s tail before releasing it is pretty tame compared to how many fish are treated when reeled in.

I caught a 5-foot dusky shark about two and a half years ago here in Southwest Florida. I’ll never forget it because we were fishing from a boat but near the shore.

There was this elderly guy wading out in the water fishing who seemed to be acting a little territorial that we were nearby. Then I hooked up with the dusky shark about 20 feet away from where he was standing in dark (brackish) water with very poor visibility. This guy was blissfully unaware that I’d just pulled a 5-foot hungry shark away from his vicinity because he wasn’t watching at all when I hooked or reeled in the shark.

As for Drew Rosenhaus, it’s hard to imagine he cares about PETA’s statement. Rosenhaus has accumulated an estimated net worth approaching $200 million thanks, in large part, to working with the NFL’s highest-profile athletes like Tyreek Hill ($140M contract), D.J. Moore ($73M contract), J.C. Jackson ($82.5M contract), and countless others.

As an NFL super agent, Drew Rosenhaus has been responsible for over $1.1 billion in cumulative contracts which ranks #1 overall amongst all agents.
