After closing out the regular season with an NBA high 64 wins, finishing eight games up in the standings on second place in the West, Memphis, and 11 games better than the top team in the East, Miami, the Phoenix Suns looked like they might be just roll through the playoffs to the title with relative ease.
That, we all now know, did not happen.
With a three games to two lead, the Phoenix Suns proceeded to not only lose the final two games of the Western Conference Semifinals, but lost them in epic fashion by a combined 60 points.
Embarrassing, right?
Not as embarrassing as Phoenix Suns management deciding that those two miserable losses warranted the publishing of an open letter apologizing to the team’s fans.
“Today is a new day for Phoenix Suns fans. The work on next season is already underway,” the letter read.
“As employees, fans, partners and PayPal Sixth Man Members of the Phoenix Suns you should be proud of what you have helped this team and our organization accomplish. For three straight seasons we have been raising the bar on expectations and accomplishments that wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from the best fans in the NBA, some of whom have been with us since the start in 1968.
“With greater success and expectation comes deeper disappointment. That’s natural. Just know that we all share in it, and our organization won’t be satisfied until we bring an NBA championship to the Valley.
“We’re in this together. We win together. We lose together. We fight together. And the only way we get better, is together.
“Thank you for supporting us all season and as we look ahead to the start of a new chapter.”
It was signed by Suns general manager James Jones and team president Jason Rowley.

Wow. What’s worse? That letter from Suns management or the Tampa Bay Lightning’s terrible tweet in 2019 after becoming the first team to get swept in the first round of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs after winning the President’s Trophy.
NBA fans couldn’t believe the Phoenix Suns wrote a letter apologizing for losing
