Popeyes Meme Kid Is Now A College Football Player, Wants NIL Deal From Restaurant

Confused Kid From Popeye's Meme Is A Jacked High School State Champ

Vine

Remember the kid from the famous Popeyes meme? You know the one who looked like Vine star TerRio and gave the camera the side-eye as the camera focused on him holding his drink? (You do remember Vine, right?)

Of course you do. It’s been almost a decade and it’s still one of the most used memes and gifs on social media.

Well, his name is Dieunerst Collin and in the years since he was captured on film as a confused 9-year-old at Popeyes, he has become quite the football player.

Last year, Collin was part of an East Orange High School football team that won the state championship in New Jersey, where he was named First Team All-Conference, County, and Division and Second Team All-State.

Naturally, as any good social media account associated with one of the most viral memes ever would do, Popeyes was quick to pounce in Collin’s Twitter comments.

After winning the state title last year, Dieunerst joked in an interview that he was going to get him some chicken.

Fast forward to today and Dieunerst Collin is now a freshman on the Lake Erie College football team and he’s looking to get paid.

Over the weekend, he took to social media with a message.

“I NEED EVERYONE TO REPOST THIS AND TAG @popeyes I JUST WANNA TALK BUISNESS,” he wrote.

Considering the fact that he’s gotten over 27,000 likes on his post and over 1,300 comments, most of which appear to have tagged Popeyes, he might actually, finally, get his chicken (and hopefully, a little cash).

The now 6-foot-1, 330 pound offensive lineman is majoring in sports management with a minor in comedian studies (?!), while pursuing a career as a sports analyst.

It’s nice to see that he’s still having fun with the meme after all these years. Not everyone can say that.
