It was recently reported that the Las Vegas Raiders were not allowing Derek Carr to communicate with other teams to seek a trade.

However, it sounds like the front office has changed its mind.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Raiders gave Carr permission to talk with the New Orleans Saints after they invited him to visit. He is to meet with New Orleans on Wednesday.

Allowing Derek Carr to talk with other teams is essential for the Raiders to finalize a possible trade. Especially considering he’s due $40.4 million guaranteed if he’s not traded before February 15.

Additionally, New Orleans definitely could use some help at quarterback. So why not talk with Carr and see if he’s a good fit?

It’s important to note though that just because Derek Carr is talking with the Saints it doesn’t mean a deal is going to be made. As Rapoport points out, “no trade is imminent.”

If anything, this could lead to more potential visits for Carr in the coming week. Perhaps he’ll find a team he likes before the February 15 deadline and seek a trade.

Albeit, his contract situation is something to monitor, as rumors suggest other teams might be willing to wait and see what the Raiders do on that date.

So, keep an eye on Las Vegas, as this franchise is all over the place in the rumor mill.
