The 2026 Super Regional field is set. Sixteen deserving college baseball teams will soon compete for a chance to book a ticket to Omaha.

Eight winners will advance to the College World Series field. For some, it will represent a return to the NCAA baseball promised land following a number of previous trips. Others will be making their debuts.

Which Super Regional team has made the most College World Series?

Of the 16 participants, four could be making their first ever field. Five others have been to Omaha at least 10 times or more.

Here, we’ll rank each of the schools from least to most in terms of College World Series appearances. Let’s start with the quartet of potential newcomers.

Cal Poly Mustangs

CSW Appearances: 0

The Mustangs have made just five NCAA Tournament fields in their history. They won their first ever regional in 2026.

Cal Poly did so despite being assigned to top-ranked UCLA’s bracket. They avoided the Bruins, who were knocked off by St. Mary’s twice in the tournament.

The Mustangs beat Virginia Tech is its NCAA Tournament opener before sweeping the Gaels in back-to-back contests. They will now travel to play West Virginia in their first ever super regional.

West Virginia Mountaineers

CSW Appearances: 0

Speaking of the Mountaineers, they, too, can book their first ever ticket to Omaha with a super regional win. They advanced out of the regionals for the third straight year and will look to make school history.

West Virginia is 0-2 all-time in those previous super regional opportunities. They have never been to the College World Series.

Last season, they won a regional in Clemson. The year prior, they advanced out of Arizona. This year, they were able to host the first round. They will have homefield advantage again in the supers after a dramatic turn of events.

The Mountaineers lost to Kentucky in Game 2 of the bracket. They then won three straight games, including two consecutive victories over the Wildcats with each win sealed in the final at-bat.

Little Rock Trojans

CSW Appearances: 0

Little Rock is playing in just their third ever NCAA Tournament field. It advanced out of the regional round for the first time in 2026.

The Trojans knocked off ninth-ranked Southern Miss with an epic come from behind performance in the opener before downing Jacksonville State twice. Little Rock is one of two four-seeds remaining in the tournament.

They will be facing another team that has never been to the College World Series in the super regional. Little Rock will travel to Troy, another upset minded school with history on the brain.

Troy Trojans

CWS Appearances: 0

Troy, like two teams previously mentioned on this list, advanced out of the regional round for the first time ever in 2026. That came in their 10th ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Trojans had been 0 for 9 in regional opportunities dating back to 1993. They bucked the trend this postseason.

Troy was one of the last teams to make the field after going 32-29 during the regular season. They proved they belonged with an upset in the Gainesville bracket.

The Trojans advanced by battling out of the loser’s bracket. Troy lost its opener to Miami before ripping off four straight wins over Rider, the Hurricanes, and Florida (twice).

Kansas Jayhawks

CWS Appearances: 1

Kansas made its first ever NCAA Tournament field in 1993. It advanced all the way to the College World Series in that debut.

Since, Omaha has proven elusive. The Jayhawks have not been back. They will have an opportunity to return in 2026.

Kansas hosted its first ever regional this postseason and quickly swept through the field. The Jayhawks knocked off Northeastern in the opening game before dispatching Arkansas twice.

They will now get a chance to host their first ever super regional vs. Oklahoma. It’s just their second time advancing past the first round. They went to the CWS the last time it happened. Can they make it 2 for 2?

Oregon Ducks

CWS Appearances: 1

Oregon hosted a regional for the second straight season in 2026. They fared much better this year than they did the last.

Last season, the Ducks were eliminated after just two games. This year, they swept through the field with a perfect 3-0 mark. That included wins over Yale and former PAC 12 rivals Washington State and Oregon State. They outscored their opponents 22-3.

That’s put them in the super regional field for the second time in three seasons, and just the fourth time in school history. They’ll face Texas in round two with a chance to make Omaha for just the second time ever, with the first coming all the way back in 1954.

Alabama Crimson Tide

CWS Appearances: 5

We now start getting into the schools with at least a handful of trips under their belts. Alabama ranks 10th in this year’s field with five previous College World Series appearances. They will try to book a sixth in 2026.

The Crimson Tide made their debut in Omaha in 1950, the first time the finals were held at legendary Rosenblatt Stadium. The program made later appearances in 1983, 1996, 1997, and 1999. Twice, they’ve finished as the national runners-up.

This season, Alabama hosted a regional in Tuscaloosa. It advanced with three straight wins over Alabama State, USC Upstate, and Oklahoma State. The Crimson Tide will host St. John’s in the super regional with a chance to book a ticket to the CWS.

Auburn Tigers

CWS Appearances: 6

Alabama rival Auburn advanced to the super regional after battling back in the loser’s bracket at home. The Tigers hosted a regional Plainsman Park in 2026. After dropping their opener, they won four straight elimination games.

In doing so, they made their sixth super regional, and second in as many seasons. They will face Ole Miss with a chance to move onto Omaha.

Auburn went to the College World Series in 1967, 1976, 1994, 1997, 2019, and 2022. They have never made it to the finals. Will this be the year they break through?

St. John’s Red Storm

CWS Appearances: 6

St. John’s was once a frequent flyer to Omaha. The Red Storm made it to the College World Series three times in the 1960s after making their CWS debut in 1949.

The program also made the field in 1978 and 1980. It has not been back since.

This year, St. John’s improbably swept through the Tallahassee regional as a four-seed, knocking off the likes of Florida State and Northern Illinois in route to a perfect 3-0 mark.

The Red Storm will face Auburn in their second ever super regional, a format that dates back to 1999. The school has a chance to make their first College World Series field in nearly five decades.

Georgia Bulldogs

CWS Appearances: 6

Georgia is looking to make its seventh ever College World Series appearance after previously making the field in 1987, 1990, 2001, 2004, 2006, and 2008.

The Bulldogs have twice made the finals, winning a national title in the ’90 season. They finished as national runners-up in the ’08 campaign.

Georgia got here after winning the SEC and hosting a regional in Athens. They made light work of their competition, sweeping through Liberty and Long Island in three straight games. The Dawgs outscored their foes 30-5 in those contests.

UGA will face conference rival Mississippi State in the supers with a chance to advance to Omaha.

Ole Miss Rebels

CWS Appearances: 6

Ole Miss advanced to the super regionals as a two-seed in the Lincoln regional. They knocked off top-ranked Nebraska on their way to the second round.

The Rebels went a perfect 3-0 in regional play, with two of those wins coming over Arizona State in extra innings. Those victories were sandwiched around a triumph over the host Cornhuskers in Game 2.

Ole Miss has been to the College World Series six times. They won a national title in 2022, their most recent appearance in Omaha. The Rebs also booked tickets in 1956, 1964, 1969, 1972, and 2014.

They’ll get their next opportunity to advance in the supers vs. Auburn.

Oklahoma Sooners

CWS Appearances: 11

Now, we get to the frequent flyers. Oklahoma starts us off with 11 previous trips to the College World Series.

The Sooners made it to Omaha in 1951, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1992, 1994, 1995, 2010, and 2022. Twice they’ve been named national champions.

This year, they’ll look to make their 12th appearance. They’ll have that opportunity following a dramatic upset in Atlanta.

The Sooners ousted The Citadel in Game 1 before falling to No. 2 national seed Georgia Tech in Game 2 of the regional. With their backs against the wall, they ripped off three straight wins in elimination situations, two of which came against the Yellow Jackets.

Oklahoma officially punched its ticket with a walk-off win in a decisive finale. They’ll face Kansas in the supers with a trip to Omaha on the line.

North Carolina Tar Heels

CWS Appearances: 12

North Carolina has the second-most College World Series appearances without winning a national title with 12. They have made the finals twice but never hoisted the trophy.

The Tar Heels made it to Omaha for the first time in 1960. They returned in 1966, 1978, 1989, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2018, and 2024.

They will look to secure a first national championship in 2026 but will first have to make it through the super regional round vs. USC.

UNC advanced out of the Chapel Hill regional with three straight wins. The first came against VCU, followed by back-to-back victories over East Carolina.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

CWS Appearances: 12

Mississippi State has been to Omaha 12 times in its baseball program’s history. The first came in 1971. The school then returned in 1979, 1981, 1985, 1990, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2013, 2018, 2019, and 2021.

The Bulldogs secured their first and only national title their last time in the College World Series field. They also finished as national runners-up in 2013.

Mississippi State hosted a regional in Starkville this postseason. They advanced without issue following three straight wins. The Bulldogs outscored their opponents 39-11 along the way.

A lucky 13th CWS trip is on the table. They’ll first have to beat Georgia in the super regionals to punch a ticket to Omaha.

USC Trojans

CWS Appearances: 21

USC owns one of the most prominent programs in the sport’s long history. They’ve been to the College World Series 21 times. They’ve won a nation-leading 12 national titles.

Much of that damage was done in the 1970s. The Trojans had a college baseball dynasty. They appeared in Omaha in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1978. They won championships in each of those trips.

The Trojans also made the field 11 times between 1948 and 1968, winning five titles and finishing as runner-up in 1960. After winning the ’78 trophy, USC returned to the College World Series in 1995 where it again finished second.

The school made the field in 1998 (champions), 2000, and 2001, too. After winning the Texas A&M regional this postseason, they’ll face North Carolina in the supers with a chance to make a 22nd appearance in Omaha.

Texas Longhorns

CWS Appearances: 38

Texas has been to the College World Series more than any other team in college baseball history. Their 38 previous trips best second-ranked Miami by 13.

The Longhorns have won six national titles in those 38 appearances with the most recent coming in 2005. They have also finished runner-up six times, most recently in 2009.

Between 1949 and 1989, the Longhorns made the field a ridiculous 25 times. They’ve been back 13 times since, including a six-year run from 2000-2005 in which they appeared five times and won two championships.

Texas last made it to Omaha in 2022. It has a chance to return after winning the Austin regional with a 3-0 sweep. The Horns beat Holy Cross, Tarleton State, and UC Santa Barbara by a combined score of 41-7.

They’ll have a chance to book trip No. 39 during a super regional matchup with Oregon.
