Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was a breakout star down the stretch in his rookie season in helping the Chiefs win a second-straight Super Bowl. But, the SMU alum has found himself in a bit of hot water after a car crash over the weekend involving a Lamborghini registered to Rice in Texas.

Up until Wednesday afternoon, Rashee Rice has been silent about the matter. But, he broke his silence with a vague statement that sheds little light on his involvement in the incident.

Here’s the statement.

The crash happened in Dallas on Saturday. According to the Associated Press, the Lamborghini was a rental, and the contract for the rental stated that only Rashee Rice could drive it.

The crash left four people injured, and had six vehicles involved, including a Chevrolet Corvette also owned by Rashee Rice. Police say that the Corvette and Lamborghini were operating at unsafe speeds. The alleged video of the incident certainly seems to bear that out.

Even after that statement by Rashee Rice, the question of who was driving the Corvette and Lamborghini remains. There is video floating around that allegedly shows Rice and associates leaving the scene of the crash.

Thankfully, none of the injuries seem life-threatening. That was not the case when former Raiders first-rounder Henry Ruggs tragically killed two people while driving under the influence in a crash in Las Vegas in 2021. Ruggs is currently serving a prison sentence in Nevada for Felony DUI resulting in death.

But, depending on his role in the crash, Rice could face legal troubles and discipline from the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL, or both.
