Ravens Fans Blast Front Office For Latest Attempt At Giving Lamar Jackson A WR1

The Baltimore Ravens are in serious need of wide receiver help this season. The franchise gave away No. 1 target Hollywood Brown over the offseason, trading the star pass catcher to the Cardinals.

Brown led the team with 91 catches and 1,008 yards last year. Following his departure, the Ravens were left with a wide receiving corps consisting of Devin Duvernay, Rashod Bateman, and Demarcus Robinson. Tight end Mark Andrews leads the team in production, totaling more catches than those three receivers combined.

Now, Baltimore’s offense is centered around the run game. But even with the talent the Ravens boast in the backfield, it’s tough to loosen up opposing defenses without a passing attack.

The front office has taken note of the struggles at wideout, leading to a visit from one veteran pass catcher. The potential target isn’t sitting well with the fanbase.

The Ravens are reportedly hosting DeSean Jackson for a workout as they look for help at WR.

Unfortunately, fans don’t believe he’ll offer much support in the receiver room.

Jackson is now 35 years old, having spent 14 seasons in the NFL. A star with Philadelphia and Washington, his production has tapered over the last few years.

Last season, he briefly split time with both the Rams and Raiders, starting four games. Jackson hauled in 20 catches for 454 yards. Injuries have been prevalent in that decline, though he did appear in 16 games last year.

Jackson certainly boasts big play potential (22.7 ypc in 2021), but fans were hoping the team would go after a younger star as opposed to a rental. The recent report has been met with dismay.

There are a number of potential options on the wideout market, most notably, OBJ who won a Super Bowl with the Rams last year. Panthers pass catcher Robbie Anderson was also available before being traded to the Cardinals.

“Could’ve brought in Robbie Anderson who is 6 years younger and does the exact same thing as him but y’all ain’t wanna give up a 6th and 7th rounder.”

This fan wrote, “A typical Ravens move smh, got to start paying market value for a receiver. Bateman is good but him alone isn’t enough.”

Another Ravens’ supporter said, “This Ravens organization is a disaster right now. The 35-year-old free agent is a free agent for a reason and not the solution to our many problems.”

Many are joking that the franchise must not want Lamar Jackson to succeed.

We’ll see if there’s a shakeup in the Ravens’ receiving room after the DeSean Jackson visit.
