The Brooklyn Nets find themselves in a very tough spot.

Reports are beginning to surface stating that the organization is in hot water with its two biggest superstars. Those playmakers are point guard Kyrie Irving and forward Kevin Durant.

News of the players’ unhappiness is beginning to make its way around social media. On Tuesday, it was reported that the Nets are unwilling to offer Irving a long-term contract. The concerns stem from Irving’s injury history, as well as his decision not to get vaccinated.

If Irving is unable to land a long-term offer, he’s viable to reject his player option and walk away from the team ahead of the 2022 season.

This stance on Irving is impacting more than just one player on the roster, though. It’s also being said that Durant will follow suit should Irving choose to leave.

Those thoughts were seemingly confirmed when the forward said that he hasn’t been in contact with the team since their first-round exit from the NBA playoffs.

With Durant and Irving both gone, the Nets would be left with just an injured Ben Simmons, who’s yet to even suit up for the team since his arrival last season.

Brooklyn would go from immediate championship contender to a shell of its former self should things transpire in the worst possible way.

With questions arising about the future of their two stars, many are taking to social media to debate what might happen.

With Kevin Durant’s future uncertain, folks on Twitter are beginning to speculate his next landing spot. Will he return to Brooklyn, or will he find a new home in 2022?

Of course, it wouldn’t be a true NBA debate without a Lakers reference.

Or maybe he’ll consider joining a championship ready team like Milwaukee or Phoenix.

Will he pair back up with former teammate James Harden?

Or take the short trip across the city to play for the Knicks?

Finally, he could return to Golden State where he won his last NBA title.

All of this hinges on Brooklyn’s decision with Kyrie Irving. Should they choose not to offer that long-term deal, the roster could fall apart right in front of their eyes.
