The divorce between Colin Kaepernick and the NFL may actually be getting close to being finalized. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Colin Kaepernick was given a “credible opportunity,” but the league is “moving on.”
On Wednesday afternoon, Goodell talked with the media following a league meeting in Dallas, Texas. One of the topics was of course Colin Kaepernick. The tone of Goodell’s response may hint that the league is no longer interested in the services of the free agent quarterback.
Goodell commented on Kaepernick’s NFL workout for teams on November 16, calling it a “credible opportunity” for the 32-year-old former San Francisco QB.
“It was about opportunity, a credible opportunity. He chose not to take it, and I understand that,” Goodell told the media. Goodell added that “the league has moved on.”
On Colin Kaepernick and what went into the FA workout, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said, “It was about opportunity, a credible opportunity. … He chose not to take it, and I understand that.” And the league has moved on.

The unemployed quarterback has not played in the NFL since January 1, 2016, which was his last game with the San Francisco 49ers. Kaepernick opted out of his contract on March 3, 2017, and since then no team has signed him.
The NFL organized a free agent workout for Kaepernick at the Atlanta Falcons facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia, but Kaepernick changed the location to a high school near Atlanta only hours before the free agent showcase after the NFL would not allow media to cover the event.
Following the workout, Kaepernick told Goodell and all 32 teams to “stop running from people.”
“We all know why I came out here: to show you today, in front of everybody, we have nothing to hide,” he said. “So we’re waiting for the 32 owners, the 32 teams, Roger Goodell, all of them, to stop running. Stop running from the truth, stop running from the people.”
There were 25 teams in attendance for Kaep’s workout, but zero teams showed interest in signing him.
