It’s been less than two weeks since Russell Westbrook exchanged words with a fan in San Antonio who had the audacity to call him “Westbrick” before the man who has been shooting 11% from beyond the arc since the NBA All-Star break used the postgame press conference to let the world know he would no longer tolerate the derisive nickname.

In a truly shocking twist, fans have not been incredibly inclined to respect Westbrook’s wishes. Since that night, it’s been impossible to wander into his Instagram comments without encountering a flood of trolls deploying “Westbrick,” and multiple fans have also been brave enough to say it to his face.
That includes one person who immediately folded after Westbrook confronted them during pregame warmups in Minnesota on Wednesday, and it only took around another day for the guard to discover every person in Canada isn’t as polite and friendly as we’ve been led to believe.
After arriving in Toronto ahead of Friday night’s game between the Lakers and the Raptors, Westbrook was once again unable to stop himself from getting into it with a heckler who chirped him on the street. While the guy recording the interaction tried to be somewhat diplomatic after he was approached, he reverted back to Troll Mode by yelling “You’re a goof” once his target had hopped into an awaiting SUV.

It seems like there are plenty of people who sympathize with Westbrook’s plight, but I don’t think I’m alone in finding it too hard to feel bad for a superstar athlete who simply can’t stop himself from making things worse by just ignoring the haters who have obviously gotten into his head.
