Yesterday’s Kansas City Chiefs’ 32-29 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game has sparked intense internet discussion on multiple fronts. One of those fronts revolves around a tweet by Benjamin Solak criticizing Josh Allen on the Bills’ final offensive snap.

Former NFL quarterback and current media personality Ryan Leaf absolutely did not like the criticism. In fact, he encouraged people to go to the house of Benjamin Solak and rough him.

Let’s set the stage. The Bills have 4th and 5 with 2 minutes remaining in the game coming out of the two-minute warning trailing by three. The game isn’t over if they don’t pick it up, but it’s pretty much over. Kansas City defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo dialed up a perfect blitz, Josh Allen was pressured pretty much right after the snap, and somehow threw a fantastic pass to Dalton Kincaid, who dropped it.

But, Benjamin Solak thinks that Josh Allen should’ve thrown the ball to Khalil Shakir, who ran what you could call an orbit return route. Take a look.

Solak was raked over the coals for this. It’s not that Shakir wasn’t open. He definitely was. But, Allen had immediate pressure in his face, Shakir wasn’t really even in the route when the pressure got there, and Allen would’ve had to turn and throw and probably didn’t have time to do that. Plus, Kincaid was open, and Allen made a great throw.

While a lot of people didn’t like the take, nobody disliked it more than Ryan Leaf. Leaf, the former Washington State legend and famous NFL draft bust who later went to prison, took it very seriously. Take a look.

That might be a little bit over the line, Mr. Leaf. Yeah, it was a bad take, and it’s easy for Solak to say to just throw it to Shakir when nobody is chasing him down. But, I don’t think we need to beat anyone up over it.
