The NFL Draft is quickly approaching and some speculate the Washington Commanders could select a quarterback.

However, the franchise has been rather adamant that the starting job is Sam Howell’s to lose.

Now, the young quarterback shares his reaction to the ongoing reports that the Commanders want him to be their starting option.

According to Kevin Patra, Howell seems tremendously humble with the opportunity ahead. From the sounds of it, he aims to give it his all no matter what.

“This organization is going to get everything I got. I’m just going to give this opportunity everything I have.”

Washington seems impressed by Howell’s efforts in the final game of the 2022 campaign.

Additionally, it’s not like the Commanders are in a position to acquire one of the top prospect quarterbacks this year. Although, the NFL Draft could play out much differently than most think.

Overall, Sam Howell is just grateful for the opportunity the Commanders are potentially giving him.

“That’s what I’ve been trying to do ever since I got here is get into this opportunity,” Howell said. “So, I’m definitely going to try to do everything I can to take advantage of it.”

Of course, the starting job isn’t guaranteed for Howell right now. Washington signed veteran Jacoby Brissett, who very much has the ability to win the starting role.

Additionally, the NFL Draft could play out in a way for the Commanders to select a quarterback who might fall in the first round.

We’ll see how it plays out, but according to Kevin Patra, the Commanders’ starting role is “Howell’s job to lose come training camp.”
