Ohio authorities arrested San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York on two charges over the weekend. The East Palestine Police Department in Ohio took York into custody on Sunday on charges of disorderly behavior and possession of criminal tools.
Both charges are misdemeanors. According to court documents, police booked York into Columbiana County Jail, and he entered a no-contest plea to both charges Monday morning. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released. WKBN News first reported the arrest.
According to a police incident report, officers took York into custody in East Palestine’s Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community. The report lists the time of the arrest as 9: 35 a.m. The East Palestine Police Department was assisting the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force at the time of the arrest.
Jed York was originally facing a prostitution-related charge
Police originally arrested him on suspicion of engaging in prostitution. Authorities amended the engaging in prostitution count to a disorderly conduct charge.
A judge sentenced Jed York, 46, to one day in jail for both offenses, to be served concurrently and credited him with one day served when he pleaded no contest. The court also fined him $1,150.
Columbiana County Municipal Court records also reveal that as part of the plea deal, authorities were to transfer $160 that they had confiscated to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, and York received his cell phone back. York also completed an online course.

York’s mother’s side of the family comes from Youngstown, Ohio. He also graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown. East Palestine is located about thirty minutes south of there.
Pro Football Talk reports that as a result of his arrest and plea deal, Jed York will now presumably be subject to NFL discipline under the Personal Conduct Policy. He has been the San Francisco 49ers’ chief executive officer since 2008 and officially became the team’s principal owner in 2024 when he purchased equity in the team from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York.
