This week has been a key one in the New York Jets’ courtship of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers, as the 39-year-old reportedly welcome Jets brass to California for a meeting earlier this week.

According to reports from ESPN’s Dianna Russini, Jets owner Woody Johnson — who met with Rodgers in Cali earlier this week alongside GM Joe Douglas, HC Robert Saleh, and Rodgers’ old buddy offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett — left the meeting feeling optimistic about the team’s chances of landing Rodgers.

Obviously, the confidence from management has trickled its way down to the roster, as the trio of Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and Sauce Gardner not only posted a video of them burning a cheesehead, but Gardner speculated on a live stream that other players will follow Rodgers to the Big Apple in “package deals.”

Even considering his relative struggles during the 2022 season, which saw him throw more interceptions than he had in over a decade, if the Jets land Rodgers, he’ll likely be the best quarterback to even suit up for the famously moribund franchise, who are the current owners of the longest postseason drought in the National Football League.

The Jets have also made headway in terms of their trade with the Green Bay Packers, as further reports seem to indicate the two sides have already worked out compensation in a potential deal, which will likely see the Jets send the Packers a first-round pick and an additional round pick.
