While Sauce Gardner may be one of the best cornerbacks in the league and one of the best players on the New York Jets, it turns out he’s one of the team’s best recruiters, too.

After posting a video of him (and teammates Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall) burning a Green Bay Packers cheesehead as a “sales pitch” to Aaron Rodgers, Gardner then took to Twitter to share a screenshot of an apparently recent FaceTime with free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

What makes Gardner sharing a photo of Beckham Jr. particularly interesting is that he previously said other players would come to the Jets with Aaron Rodgers as part of a de-facto “package deal.” Rodgers has certainly never been shy about his feelings for Beckham Jr., as they almost acquired him before he ultimately went to the Rams. Just last season, in fact, Rodgers said of Odell that he but “likes the person and loves the player.”

According to reports, Beckham Jr. — who sat out during the 2022 season as he recovered from an ACL injury that he suffered in Super Bowl LVI — held a workout for interested teams in Arizona on Friday. While it’s unclear which teams will be interested in acquiring the former New York Giants, Cleveland Brown, and Los Angeles Ram, Beckham did meet with the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills towards the tail end of last season.

Now 30 years old, Beckham — drafted by the Giants as the #12 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft — has racked up 531 catches for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns during his eight seasons in the NFL. His last 1,000-yard season, however, came in 2019 with the Cleveland Browns.
