Five-star running back Savion Hiter is one of the most coveted players in the 2026 high school football cycle. He appears to be down to four finalists in his recruitment.

Recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports provided an update on the process following an official visit to Ohio State. He was immediately called out by the ball carrier online.

Wiltfong is one of the most connected and respected analysts in the field. The term “Fong Bomb” trends whenever he gives a commitment prediction – and he’s right more than 90% of the time!

The expert did not provide a crystal ball projection for Savion Hiter. He did, however, say that two teams stand out in his recruitment.

Hiter is fresh off an official visit to Columbus. He’s scheduled to see Georgia, Michigan, and Tennessee in the coming weeks. The Buckeyes reportedly made a major impact on the running back. They gave him something to think about ahead of his looming decision.

Despite positive reviews, Steve Wiltfong believes it’s a two-horse race at this particular moment, and Ohio State is not one of the leaders. Instead, he insists that Michigan and Tennessee are in the best spot to land a commitment.

“I still think it’s Michigan and Tennessee when all is said and done,” Wiltfong said in a recent interview. “Those are the programs I’m watching the most right now. I think they’re the programs that will take that recruitment up another level from an NIL standpoint if they have to…

“He’s the No. 1 player on Michigan’s board… Tennessee gets the last visit… The buzz, for me, is still more around Michigan and Tennessee.”

Wiltfong insinuated that NIL payout will play a large role in Hiter’s decision. He acknowledged that the trip to Ohio State went well but believes Michigan and Tennesse are open to entering a bidding war for the running back’s services.

Savion Hiter didn’t seem to agree with the analysis. He questioned where the expert was getting his information.

Hiter’s response would lead you to believe his recruitment is still wide open. He wants to play it close to the vest.

It will be interesting to see if Wiltfong’s update proves true when all is said and done. Much can change between now and commitment day. Hiter is scheduled to be in Athens tomorrow before making trips to Ann Arbor and Knoxville.
