It just means more in the SEC. For a pair of conference coaches, that could relate to the buyout money they’ll be receiving this offseason.

Two Southeastern Conference leaders at notable programs headline the list of most likely candidates to be fired in 2022. Bookies.com recently released some projected odds relating to the dismissals of college football coaches. They list the top five most likely people to be fired next in the 2022 season.

We’ve already seen a few high-ranking coaches get canned. Scott Frost lasted just three games into the year before Nebraska decided it had seen enough. Former NFL legend Herm Edwards was let go at Arizona State following a loss to Eastern Michigan in mid-September. Others include Paul Chryst at Wisconsin, Geoff Collins at Georgia Tech, and Karl Dorrell at Colorado.

While the SEC has yet to see its first firing, we might not have to wait much longer.

Coaching rumors surround SEC leaders at Auburn, Texas A&M.

Jimbo Fisher and Bryan Harsin have been at the center of coaching rumors as they struggle through the SEC slate. Both the Tigers and Aggies sit at 3-4 on the year, tied for last place in the SEC West with just one conference win.

But issues off the field are seemingly speeding up their exits. Harsin has seen a mass exodus of 2021 recruits as half of his initial cycle at Auburn is no longer with the team. Reports are now surfacing that he’s making players choose between burning their redshirts or transferring to another school.

As for Texas A&M, Fisher is under fire for losing control of his locker room. He helped the Aggies land a historic 2022 recruiting class, but a string of indefinite suspensions could lead to attrition. Making things worse, his team has lost three straight games making the prospect of missing the postseason a very real possibility. One thing giving him a bit more security is a hefty, guaranteed contract. The university will owe Fisher $85M if they fire him this season.

Based the odds provided by Bookies.com, Harsin leads the way at -110. Fisher comes a few names down the list at +800. The top five candidates are listed below.

Bryan Harsin (Auburn) -110
Jeff Scott (South Florida) +450
Neal Brown (West Virginia) +600
Jimbo Fisher (Texas A&M) +800
Scott Satterfield (Louisville) +1500
The Field +500

Time will tell which of these names is scratched from the list first. As of now, it seems like a coach from the SEC will be the next victim.
