Bryan Harsin Is Destroying His 1st Recruiting Class By Telling Players To Quit Rather Than Redshirt

Bryan Harsin is quickly becoming the most hated man in Auburn, AL. The second-year head coach has already worn out his welcome in the midst of a turbulent 2022 campaign.

Harsin came to The Plains after spending seven years at Boise State. With the Broncos, he won 69 of his 88 games at the helm while leading his team to five double-digit win seasons.

At Auburn, he’s not seen the same success.

The Tigers went 6-7 in Year 1, losing to Houston in the Birmingham Bowl. Whispers began in the offseason about his job security, and that noise only grew as off-the-field rumors put his status in jeopardy. He then lost defensive coordinator Derek Mason to Oklahoma State while having a number of former players speak out against the program.

Still, Harsin persevered.

The head coach battled through the adversity to remain with the team. Unfortunately, Year 2 hasn’t brought about any certainty. In fact, the cries to remove Harsin have only grown louder.

Auburn is off to a 3-4 start, losing to Penn State, LSU, Georgia, and Ole Miss. Three of those four defeats have come by two scores of more with the losses to the Bulldogs and Nittany Lions coming by a combined 61 points.

Of their three wins, two have come in rather unconvincing fashion with a three-point overtime win against Missouri (which probably should’ve been a loss) and an eight-point victory over San Jose State.

Things are now growing worse due to a decision regarding the coach’s handling of the roster.

Bryan Harsin is reportedly telling players who want to redshirt that they either have to quit or enter the transfer portal.

A report from Auburn Daily is saying that Bryan Harsin is “refusing to allow players to take a redshirt without a medical reason.”

A source tells Auburn Daily that Auburn football Head Coach Bryan Harsin is telling players that have asked for redshirts that their only options are to quit the football program or enter the transfer portal.

Those pesky unnamed sources seem to be active in Auburn, but there could be some validity based on the turnover on The Plains. Half of Harsin’s initial recruiting class has already left the program with three players entering the transfer portal earlier this month. Nine players from that 2021 cycle are no longer with the team.

Harsin has responded to the accusations, though he didn’t go into much detail.

“I don’t know what report you’re talking about.” -Bryan Harsin

Tigers fans aren’t happy with where the program is headed under their second-year coach, and they’re letting it be known on social media.

One fan wrote, “Auburn gotta get rid of Bryan Harsin ASAP!”

Another posted, “Bryan Harsin is pushing players to leave that he won’t even be coaching next year.” If the Auburn faithful gets their way, they’ll have a new leader on the sidelines in 2023.

Things continue to crumble for Harsin, who still has Arkansas, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, and Alabama remaining on the schedule. A poor finish could all but solidify his firing from the university.
